Jason, Andy and Dana will discuss a 1984 movie weekly, breaking down all the nonsense there within. The 3 hosts all work together and everyone else around them was getting really annoyed at all the movie talk, so they decided to annoy the world in podcast form.
Check out previous seasons to hear them discuss 1982 and 1983 movies as well as a full season of Love Boat episodes (if that is your thing). Plus one-off specials and a weekly mini "what are we watching" podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Brady back onto the show as we all have a grand ol' time discussing the 1984 Comedy (sci-fi?, horror?) classic Ghostbusters. For the second time this year, we decide to try to get some extra play by discussing a movie from 40 years ago that just so happens to have a 2024 version as well and hoping you all get confused and listen to this by accident. You know and love this one. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver lead this All-Star cast as the government tries to shut down these hard working Americans who only wish to rid our fair city of this undocumented riff raff. Jeez, this movie sounds like a campaign speech. Never mind, just watch the movie and enjoy the pod.
This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Brian back onto the podcast for the first time since he stormed off in anger (over a salary dispute) to discuss the 1984 spoof-comedy Johnny Dangerously. This movie is a 1930s gangster spoof, with a crazy deep cast. But who are we kidding, we are most excited about Brian coming back on the podcast. We had a good time catching up and also discussing the movie. Three out of the four people on this podcast raved about this movie
Jason, Andy and Dana welcome a very special guest backt o the pod (first time as a guest, hint, hint) as they discuss what they are watching this week. Stay tuned for a very contentious Johnny Dangerously on Wedneday.
This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Zach back on as he forgives Andy for losing the Krull episode, and as a punishment, has us watch the 1984 afterschool-special-but-released-in-theaters Firstborn. This movie does boast a stellar cast. The wife from Mr. Mom, Robocop, Iron Man, the chick who looks like a foot on Sex and the City, one of the Corey's and our second appearance by the kid from Sleepaway Camp. The bad guy in this movie? The same bad guy from every 80s teen movie. THE EVIL STEPDAD!!! Avoid his creepy friends!! Prevent his abuse of your mom and younger brother!! Thwart his cocaine dealings!! This one turned out to be a fun one, so avoid the movie and just listen to the pod and enjoy.
This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana are joined by first timer Jim as we discuss the 1984 sci-fi space opera (their words, not mine) The Last Starfighter. In this movie, that could only come out of the 1980s, video games are used for recruitment tools into the intergalactic star league and luckily for the universe, one of said video games is placed in the trailer park where our hero Alex Rogan is living. CGI is in its infancy in this movie, as everything looks pretty cartoony, but still looks better than Justice League. Robert Preston and Dan O'Herlihy come along for the ride. This was a fun one, but not everyone seemed to be in on the fun. Listen to the podcast and find out who.
This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Connor back to the show as they try to glom onto some of the current hype by discussing the 1984 sci-fi David Lynch flick Dune. This is the first screen adaptation of the Frank Herbert classic, and let's be honest, the newer version is far superior. But that doesn't mean there isn't a lot to love from this attempt. The special effects are wonky at times, and the shields look insanely terrible, but the cast is A+, and they get the whole novel into one movie in a little over 2 and a half hours. Not too shabby. The scores for this one are all over the place, but it seems like everyone had fun. Enjoy the pod (and get out there and see the new Dune in the theater. You won't regret it)
